hello,

my name is erick rosa.

i am from brazil—grew up in rio, worked in são paulo— and before moving to japan, i lived (worked and studied) in singapore, portugal and the U.S. .

about these photos.

a few things pushed me to organize them here.
a beloved camera that was lost for a full week in the backseat of a taxi with thousands of photos that weren’t backed up (it was found later).
a documentary about a photographer who had thousands of photos still in undeveloped negatives that were going bad. and friends that from time to time ask me when i would put more photos online.

some of the photos on this site overlap with things i posted on instagram and other personal projects — and some are blurred and/or crooked— but i chose not to edit most of them— to keep them true to the moment they were taken.

there’s something i quite like about recording bits and pieces of the day (and night).

it’s the reverse effect of the plot of the movie ‘eternal sunshine of the spotless mind’.
in that movie, the main character goes (unsuccessfully) through a journey to erase (and forget) parts of his memories.

this is the opposite of that.
it is a recurring exercise— to register as much as possible— to help the mind always remember.
